On November 30, 2006, on the 20-th anniversary of ChNPP Shelter object, the Stabilization Consortium leaded by JSC Atomstroyexport completed physical works of the third commissioning package.
The third and the last activity of the package joining southern board-sticks with southern boards has been executed. The first two steps involving strengthening of northern buttress wall and its connection with northern boards-sticks have been successfully implemented in August 2006.
The Stabilization Consortium experts plan to complete all the works on the strengthening of the Shelter object’s structures, thus providing the enhanced reliability of the sarcophagus, till the end of 2006. Then it will be commissioned to the customer Chernobyl NPP. Within this period the works of the fourth commissioning package the most challenging one will be performed. These include strengthening of western fragment of the Shelter object. The said works are carried out according to schedule.
Information. The contract for stabilization measures undertaking was concluded in 2004 between the Stabilization Consortium and Chernobyl NPP within the framework of the Shelter Implementation Plan (SIP) financed by the Chernobyl Shelter Fund. The Fund is administered by EBRD.
In 2006 the Stabilization Consortium completed works of the first and the second commissioning packages.
The Stabilization Consortium’s leader JSC Atomstroyexport - is top Russian organization, implementing intergovernmental agreements for the construction of nuclear power-engineering objects abroad. At the present time, it is the only company in the world concurrently constructing 5 power-generating units for Nuclear Power Plants in China, India and Iran.
JSC Atomstroyexport has also won NPP Belene construction tender. |
