At NPP “Bushehr” (Islamic Republic of Iran) being constructed by JSC “Atomstroyexport” the strength and leakage test of the system of hermetically sealed railings has been successfully completed.  

The system of hermetically sealed railings is a localizing one, its primary function is to prevent  the  yield of radioactive substances to the environment in case of fault occurrence in the primary circuit, as well as to protect the primary circuit equipment from external impacts.

The system of hermetically sealed railings has been reconstructed by the Russian specialists after stoppage of the works by German concern “Kraftwerk Union A.G”.  Its differential characteristic from the system of hermetically sealed railings at the Russian NPP is availability of the steel containment  having the form of a sphere with the diameter of 56 meters, inside of which the basic equipment of the primary circuit is fixed – reactor, steam generators, main circulation pumps, pressure condenser.

The works on erection and testing of this structure of the system of hermetically sealed railings are being carried out by the Russian specialists for the first time, as at the Russian nuclear power plants  reinforced concrete flitch plate-lined construction is used.

At present time the preparation for the stage of hot operational testing of the reactor facility equipment is carried out at  NPP “Bushehr” site.

JSC  «Atomstroyexport» (JSC ASE) is carrying out “turnkey” construction  of one Unit  of NPP “Bushehr” with the installed electric power of 1000 MW. The construction of NPP “Bushehr” began in 1974 by German Concern “Kraftwerk Union A.G.” (Siemens/KWU). In 1980 the Concern broke the contract with the Iranian customer by reason of the resolution of the German government to join the American embargo for the deliveries of the equipment to Iran. NPP “Bushehr” is a unique  project, there are no analogues to it in the world. JSC «Atomstroyexport» and its contractors have managed to put into effect the integration of the Russian equipment  into the construction part implemented in compliance with the German design and use about 12 thousand tons of the German equipment. Great amount of work on the estimation of state and serviceability of the equipment, buildings and constructions had been carried out. The General designer is JSC “Atomenergoproject” (Moscow City). The designers had to develop and apply a variety of the individual technical ideas and know-how for adjustment of the Russian technologies to the capacities that are already available at the site. At all stages NPP “Bushehr” construction is being carried out solely under control of IAEA. The construction of the plant completely conforms to the existing international standards, legislation, non-proliferation regime.
