Atomstroyexport and NPCI (Nuclear Power Corporation of India) are satisfied with the work pace concerning the construction of Kudankulam NPP
The 22nd meeting of Joint Russian-Indian Coordination Committee for the construction of Kudankulam NPP took place on the 5th and 6th of March, 2009 in India.
The Russian delegation represented by Deputy General director of SC Rosatom Mr. Ivan Kamenskich, President of CJSC Atomstroyexport Mr. Dan Belenkiy, representatives of the management and specialists of CJSC Atomstroyexport and Russian companies involved in the project participated in the co-ordination meeting. The Indian side was represented by Chairman & Managing Director of Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCI) Dr. S.K. Jain, Additional Secretary, Permanent Invitee of the department of nuclear energy of India Mr. A.P. Joshi, Project Director of Kudankulam NPP Mr. K.C. Purohit and other management representatives of NPCI.
CJSC Atomstroyexport and NPCI have pointed out an evident progress achieved after the previous 21st meeting of Joint Coordination Committee. Over last half year three ship lots with equipment have been shipped, demineralization unit and one line of chemical water treatment system have been commissioned. Works on welding the main circulation pipeline of the second power unit, laying power and control cables, installation of passive heat abstraction system in the first and second power units have been carried out.
The issues concerning the further provision of optimal conditions for successful implementation of planned work schedule have been discussed at the meeting. The top-priority task for the forthcoming six months shall be to commission a number of systems- namely, general auxiliary power supply system, auxiliary power supply system of the first power unit, cold supply system for ventilation systems of low-duty and high-duty consumers, chlorination unit, chemical water treatment system in the full scope. It is planned to complete all construction works at hydraulic facilities and installation of equipment for a number of start-up complex units.
The Parties intend to do their utmost to ensure that the high work paces achieved presently at the construction site of Kudankulam NPP continue to increase in the future.
Reference. Atomstroyexport executing the inter-government agreements performs works on construction of Kudankulam NPP in India. The scope of obligations to be executed by CJSC Atomstroyexport in accordance with the signed contracts includes: Development of technical project and working documentation, designer supervision over NPP buildings and structures stipulated in the design scope, delivery of equipment and materials from Russia and third countries, technical support during installation and commissioning of NPP, training of operating and service personnel in Russia. Performance of construction, installation and start-up works at the NPP site as well as commissioning shall be carried out by the Indian side.
