Atomstroyexport JSC has settled down the landscape gardening of the territory around the site of NPP Belene
The branch of Atomstroyexport JSC located in Belene (Bulgaria) has launched an initiative both in site improvement around NPP Belene, that is under construction, and in support of the landscape gardening of the city Belene itself and its suburbs. This initiative was arranged to The week of tree-planting carried out traditionally in spring in Bulgaria.
A total of 60 persons - the specialists from Russia, CIS countries and Bulgarian employees of the branch of Atomstroyexport JSC took part in this action. More than 1800 trees were planted by common efforts. The employees of Russian company decided to establish this action as a tradition and hold the next range of litter picks for the purpose of landscape gardening next autumn.
Atomstroyexport JSC is the first Russian company that puts forward similar initiative in Bulgaria. Due to JSC ASE, Belene may become the greenest city in Bulgaria in the nearest future.
Background
In 2005 a tender for the construction of Belene NPP, which was won by the Russian company Atomstroyexport, was announced. On January 18, 2008 the signing of the Contract Agreement between Atomstroyexport JSC and the National Electric Company on the Belene NPP construction took place in the presence of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and the President of Bulgaria, Georgy Parvanov. The cost of the works under the contract amounts to about 4 billion Euros.
Belene NPP is a Russian-European project, in which Atomstroyexport is participating together with AREVA NP and Siemens. In 2007 the Russian design AES-92" used for Belene NPP was recognized as complying with all the EUR technical requirements to new generation light water reactors. Certification of the design once more demonstrated a high level of reliability and safety of the future Belene NPP.
The site of Belene NPP was officially opened on September 3, 2008.
