«JSC «Atomstroyexport» highly appreciates the potential of the Czech and Slovak industry, - stated Timur Ivanov. – Our countries have considerable experience of interaction in the field of construction of nuclear power plants on the basis of VVER technologies. Undersigning of this Memorandum will allow us to implement new joint projects successfully both within the territory of Czechia and Russia, and in the third countries, in the development of the nuclear power engineering of which we are involved or planning to take an active part».

The text of Memorandum says, particularly, that: «JSC «Atomstroyexport» intends to apply to Czech and Slovak companies  with the inquiries for deliveries of the equipment or services for new NPP constructions both in the territory of Russia, and in the territory of the third countries anticipating a competitive bid from these companies, the possibility of financing support is included.  In the event of triumph in the tender for the construction of two units at «Temelin» NPP, JSC ASE in cooperation with JSC ÎKB «Gidropress», ŠKODA JS a.s. and leading  European  manufacturers will use its best efforts for maximum involvement of Czech and Slovak companies as the suppliers of the equipment and services for the construction of these units». The depository of the Memorandum is JSC “Atomstroyexport” Representative Office  in Czechia, Prague.

Taking into account that Czech and Slovak organizations have long-term and positive experience in operation of NPP with VVER reactors, and the fact that Czech and Slovak companies are producing the considerable part of the equipment and spare parts for the above mentioned reactors, using this type of reactors in new nuclear power plant units will allow to ensure the energy independence of the country. In addition, in construction of the 3-rd and 4-th units of “Temelin” NPP it is planned to involve companies from a number of European Union countries, including Italy and France. For achieving greater efficiency of energy independence of Czech Republic in the framework of the proposal of the Czech-Russian Consortium the Russian side represented by State Corporation «Rosatom» stipulates the possibility of construction of the plant for fuel fabrication within the territory of Czech Republic. It is planned that the plant will ensure fuel supplies for the NPP in Czechia, Slovakia and in other countries of Europe.

Reference: The Russian, Czech and Slovak nuclear power industries have been always developing in close interaction. In pursuance of the Intergovernmental agreements concluded between the USSR and Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, in compliance with the Russian designs  “Bohunice” NPP and “Mohovce” NPP  in Slovakia, “Dukovany” NPP and “Temelin” NPP – in Czechia have been built and are being operated. The nuclear power plants on the basis of the Russian technologies of light water reactors have one of the best reliability indices and economical operation ratio in Europe and in the world. At present “Atomstroyexport” is rendering engineering-consultancy services at “Temelin” NPP site in accordance with three contracts on operation of operating plant units.

Czech-Russian Consortium  Scoda JS a.s., JSC «Atomstroyexport» (JSC  ÀSE) and JSC  ÎÊB «GIDROPRESS» have handed over the qualification documents for the project of “Temelin” NPP completion, power units 3, 4 to ČEZ. MIR-1200 project is based on the global long-term partnership of Czech, European and world companies – the leaders in their technological segments. The technological solutions of the project stipulate the localization of up to 70% of the supplies of the equipment, operations and services in Czechia. Project MIR-1200 will  rest upon more than semicentennial experience of the Czech-Russian cooperation and provide the contribution to the further development of the industrial and personnel resources of the Czech nuclear power industry.
